Accomack County VINELink Coverage
Virginia Jail VINE covers all Virginia local and regional jails according to the state FAQ. That scope includes Accomack County Jail and Eastern Shore Regional Jail. It monitors the reporting jail’s custody episode. A user can search without registering for alerts, and the search is free and anonymous. Reported events include release, transfer, escape, and death. Some jails may support more event types, but the state workflow says work-release, home-monitoring, and advance-release alerts are not offered by every facility.
Jail VINE does not follow every Accomack County person through each custody system. If the source reports release, it means that source facility sent a release event. Another warrant, detainer, state commitment, federal hold, or immigration transfer may still apply. If the source reports a transfer, custody continues. The right follow-up is the receiving facility or agency, not an assumption that the person entered the community.
Accomack County Jail and ESRJ are distinct facilities. The county sheriff operates the jail in Accomac. The Northampton County Sheriff operates ESRJ in Eastville for both Eastern Shore counties. Search both when the last holding location is uncertain, but direct a release-record request to the operator of the facility that reported the event. An Accomack court case does not make Accomack the custodian of an ESRJ release sheet.

Search an Accomack Inmate on VINELink
Start at VINELink and select Virginia. Choose the offender or person search shown by the current interface. Enter the supported name or offender or booking identifier. Name spelling, aliases, and facility reporting can affect the match, so compare the source facility and any displayed identifiers before opening a record.

- Review possible matches and compare the facility and identifiers. Do not rely on name alone.
- Open the matching record and read the source-reported custody status and location.
- Save the facility, event, and event date when a release or transfer is reported.
- If no result appears, retry the spelling or ID, search both local facilities, and call the last known jail.

Note: A missing match does not prove release because spelling, transfer, timing, and source-feed issues can all remove or delay a result.
Accomack VINELink Release Fields
VINELink presents information reported by its source agency. The research did not establish one permanent field set for every Accomack or ESRJ record, so fields should be read from the live result rather than promised in advance. The most useful items are those that connect the identity to the facility and the specific status event.

A “released” event should be stated narrowly: the named jail reported release from its custody episode. It does not establish final discharge from probation or parole. It also does not rule out another custodian. A transfer event is clearer because it expressly shows that custody changed hands rather than ended.
The jail’s own release record can add details that VINELink may not retain, including the actual time, legal authority, release disposition, and receiving agency. Ask for a narrow existing record. For Accomack County Jail, the jail number is 757-787-1095. For ESRJ, the office number is 757-678-0460, and Northampton should identify its current records custodian. This second step is vital when the difference between bond release, time served, and transfer affects the answer.
Register Accomack Release Notifications
Registration begins after locating the correct person. Select the notification action, choose one of the delivery methods offered by the current interface, and enter the destination accurately. Virginia sources describe telephone and email notice, while the live service may offer other methods. Preserve the confirmation shown by the service without sharing it publicly.

The PIN acknowledges a telephone notification. It is not needed to search. Virginia Jail VINE’s published number is 1-800-467-4943, and the state FAQ says automated calls also originate from that number. Do not publish a contact address, PIN, or registration confirmation. If the event is urgent, confirm it with the reporting facility rather than waiting for a second notice.
Note: Registration follows the specific jail record, so a later custody-system change may require a new notification registration.
ESRJ Accomack Release Alert Route
Eastern Shore Regional Jail gives Accomack users an unusually direct local layer: its official facility page publishes the Virginia VINE number and describes phone or Internet search with phone or email notice for release, transfer, death, or escape. ESRJ is in Northampton County and operated by the Northampton County Sheriff, though it primarily serves both Accomack and Northampton. That makes the reporting facility, rather than the county of arrest, central to confirmation.

The ESRJ source helps route the status question to the correct jail and sends any historical record request to Northampton’s custodian, even when the court case began in Accomack.
Accomack Jail to VADOC Transfers
Virginia Jail VINE and VADOC notification are separate. If Accomack County Jail or ESRJ reports a transfer to VADOC, the event is continued custody. Eligible victims must register through VADOC’s NAAVI system because the local and state systems are not connected. If VADOC later returns the person to a local jail, a new Jail VINE registration may be needed.

The separate state system prevents one Accomack registration from being treated as a lifetime alert that automatically follows a person across jail and prison custody.
VADOC’s public locator serves another role. It covers current state custody and community supervision and is updated daily with a timeliness warning. An incarcerated result shows continued state custody. A supervisee result suggests the person left prison for community supervision, but the underlying release and court papers must distinguish parole from probation. No locator result does not prove release because a fully discharged person may fall outside the tool’s active scope.
Confirm an Accomack VINELink Release
VINELink is not a durable historical archive. Updates can end after release, and source data can lag. A no-result may reflect spelling, timing, transfer, or scope. For Accomack County Jail, call 757-787-1095 and ask whether the person was released or transferred. For ESRJ, call 757-678-0460. If the release type, time, or destination matters, request the actual release sheet from the correct custodian.
For VADOC, use the state locator to determine whether the person remains incarcerated or appears as a supervisee. A supervisee result can mean parole, probation, or another supervised status. A fully discharged person may disappear from the active locator, so written VADOC records and release papers provide the durable path. Federal custody sits outside Jail VINE. The BOP locator can preserve a federal release date for records from 1982 forward, but “Released” means only that BOP custody ended. ICE’s locator is mainly for current immigration detention, and USMS has no comparable open historical locator. A local release to ICE or another sovereign is a transfer.
When the event must be proved, build a short evidence chain. Save the VINE notice with its date and source facility. Ask the same facility for its release or transfer entry. Check the Accomack court disposition for the legal authority, but do not treat that order as the jail’s timestamp. If a receiving agency is named, search or contact that agency. This method also catches a release that was delayed by another hold after the court acted.
Virginia also provides a separate statutory victim-notification route for certain local prisoners when written notice was requested. It should not be confused with an anonymous public VINELink search. The statutory route and the open search have different access and purposes, even when VINE helps deliver a notice. Users should rely on the registration confirmation and the official jail for event-specific questions.
